Race Recap & What's Next? | Feed Your Runner
Hi friends,
We’re now 11 days past the Boston marathon, and we have thoroughly enjoyed this break. :) This email was supposed to go out last week, but I got super sick as soon as we came home from Boston. Better now than the last 4 months or the next 4 months!
Race Recap
It was an amazing race weekend! Clayton took 7th place in 2:07:04. A new PB by 56 seconds! (His previous best was 2:08:00 in Chicago 2023.)
I know that Boston is sensationalized, but it sure lived up to the hype for me. Ali Feller (of Ali on the Run) said it best: it was like a family reunion. So many athletes, agents, media, and running friends all in one place.
A few favorite snapshots from the weekend: chatting with Pat Tiernan and Ryan Hall and Edna Kiplagat during meals, running into Ali Feller on the stairs (hooray for slow elevators), taking selfies with Keira D’Amato, walking down Newbury street with Laura Green, and chatting with Jess & Connor McClain on Easter Sunday about her family going to mass to have her socks blessed.
Most of all I loved joining Clayton for his post-marathon shuffle when he actually moved at a pace I could handle. :)
So what’s next for Clayton?
Clayton has 4 different fall marathons that he is excited about, and we're still trying to decide which one to move forward with! I'll let you know when I know. :)
Meal plans moving forward
As for the meal plans, we’re going to take a little break! When Clayton starts his build for his fall marathon, we’ll re-launch with 16 weeks of new recipes, along with the grocery lists and Jackie’s nutrition tips.
**For those with paid subscriptions: I have suspended the existing paid subscriptions until we are ready for the next build, and then I’ll resume. If I understand Substack correctly, you won't be charged for weeks that don’t have meal plans.**
A gift from Jackie
Maybe you finished Boston and are looking to what's next, or maybe you’re working towards a summer race or supporting your high school athlete. Whatever it is, I believe that a solid nutrition plan can make your training more productive and enjoyable.
If you're looking to improve your understanding of foundational sports nutrition, or if you want to dial-in your long run and race day fueling, Jackie’s nutrition course could be a great resource for you!
As a thank you for joining us for these last 16 weeks, you can use the code Boston207 to get 50% off of Jackie’s mini fueling course. It will also stack with my code, Ashley10, for an 10% off.
Take care,
Ashley
I’ve been using Redmond Real Salt for several months now, and I’m loving it—so much that I now have an aff link. You can use my code “FeedYourRunner” for 15% off your purchase. We particularly love the fine sea salt, kosher salt, and season salt.
